Oatmeal Bread

3 cups of oatmeal 6 Tablespoons of shortening 1 cup sugar 1 Tablespoons of salt 3 Tablespoons of yeast 1 cup molasses water

Pour 4 cups of boiling water over oatmeal, sugar, salt and shortening, stir just until the shortening is melted. Let set 15 to 30 minutes. Add 1 cup of molasses, 4 cups of warm water and the yeast. Add about 5 pounds of unbleached flour, knead, raise until doubled. Place in greased bread pans. Let rise one hour. Bake 350 until golden brown. About 35 to 45 minutes. Makes 4-5 large bread pans or 6 small bread pans.
