Bittersweet is one of the plants that the Forestry Dept does NOT want planted in Maine ... as stated previously, it is VERY invasive to native plants.

Marilyn: Bittersweet is VERY invasive! They love to climb trees! There is plenty of in in So. Maine and it's often often beside the road maybe planted there to help hold the banking. I have never seen it in Aroostook. When Aroostook friends come down to visit in the Fall we usually go scrounging for it so they can take some home. Many people want none of it on their property.
The red berries are plentiful this year...I pick mine in nearby powerline.

Question? Does Maine have Bittersweet growing wild? I can't remember any from when I was younger, but it can be found here, usually at farm stands and quite expensive. Any people that have it, won't tell where it is growing. Its great for decorating in the Fall.

I could not stand it; I just had to know what was in those turtle eggs, so
cut one open. Egg just never developed ... the wood chips must have been generating too much heat and that prevented them from becoming turtles ...
