I am curious, are you pointing your disapproval of the old sayings at just Ellen or all of us that contributed? When were you elected morality and language censor?

Ellen
Regarding your post 50698

Nice language for someone of your age. Good role model, for the younger gals who read COM messages.

I'm sure your parents (and your minister) would be proud of your language, and that you told on your own mother, so publically.

Shame, shame on you.

Steve S, that is a wonderful site; I thank you for posting it. I believe the plant I saw was British Soldier ... but I have to take a magnifying glass out tomorrow for another look ...

Carolyn, thank you for the information on the bittersweet. I didn't know it was invasive. Maybe if I am in So. Maine some Fall I will be able to pick some from the road also. Lot cheaper than $6.00 a small bunch.

Applebees gave a free meal to the Veterans today. My husband was a avionics technican in the Air Force for almost 12 years and is retired because of a service conected disability. We went to lunch there and after a wait of about a hour we had a good meal. I had to pay for mine, but his was free. The restaurant was swamped with customers. Nice gesture to the Veterans. Nice to see all the Veterans talking to each other about experiences and where they were stationed.

Bittersweet is one of the plants that the Forestry Dept does NOT want planted in Maine ... as stated previously, it is VERY invasive to native plants.

Marilyn: Bittersweet is VERY invasive! They love to climb trees! There is plenty of in in So. Maine and it's often often beside the road maybe planted there to help hold the banking. I have never seen it in Aroostook. When Aroostook friends come down to visit in the Fall we usually go scrounging for it so they can take some home. Many people want none of it on their property.
The red berries are plentiful this year...I pick mine in nearby powerline.
