The following summer, the Northern National Bank thermometer rose one Saturday to 96 degrees! ... Reported to my WEGP listeners (including some adults) that my attempt to fry some eggs on the sidewalk ... had only made a mess.

How many barrels on that truck?

Thank you for the expressions of sympathy, Cheryl and Marilyn. Tom died twenty-five plus years ago; he has actually been absent from our lives longer then he lived. Everytime I see a young man who is 6'5", I want to ask them for a hug, 'cause I miss my big boy!

On the plus side, our grandson looks an awful lot like Tom and is going to be just as tall. As a matter of fact, when Brenden yells at his sister, I have to look twice to see if Tom is back! Family ... ya' can't beat it with a stick !!

Al - If you're going to drag up something Arch said two years ago...check out this comment of yours (#48402) from just a couple months ago. How does that closing sentence work into you "picking on" Ellen in your entry #50723.
For the record, I think "picking on girls" is something that happened back in grade 3. There's nothing wrong with having a difference of opinion with a woman and vice versa. We're all (supposedly) adults here.

I had good news my daughter will not have to stay over there until May. She was picked by a General to work for him and will be back in the states first week in Jan.
Daisy, I'm so sorry about your son. That is a terrible tragedy to lose a son or daughter. We expect to go before our children.

Daisy, So Sorry to hear of the loss of your son Tom.

Sometimes I wonder about some of the decisions being made today. Your right, go figure!!

Marilyn, both of our sons were avionics techs ... one in Navy ... one in the Air Force (for 25+ years) ... they now have civilian contractors doing that work w/ AF personal as supervisors ... go figure! I do not know if the Navy has done the same, as Tom is the son we lost, while he was serving.
